100% Virgin Polypropylene — No Recycled Content in Food Contact

Certified food-grade FIBCs are made from 100% virgin food-grade PP. Recycled polypropylene is not permitted in the food-contact surface, because recycled feedstock cannot guarantee the absence of contaminants. This is the single most common specification failure in bulk-bag procurement. Every bag we source for food use is confirmed as virgin PP at manufacturer level, with resin documentation available on request.

What Are the Three Levels of Food-Grade FIBC?

Not every “clean” bag is food-grade. There are three distinct levels, and buyers routinely pay for one while receiving another:

• Industrial grade — basic hygiene, no additional contamination controls.
• Cleanroom manufactured — produced in a controlled environment with air washing, vacuum cleanout, light-table inspection, metal detection and ultrasonic cutting.
• Certified food-grade — cleanroom production in a third-party audited and certified facility (BRCGS / AIB / ISO 22000).

We specify the exact level your application and your own certification require — and confirm the manufacturer actually holds it, rather than taking a marketing claim at face value.

EU Food-Contact Compliance & Migration Testing

For the EU and UK market, a food-grade FIBC must satisfy the food-contact framework, not just look clean:

• Regulation (EC) 1935/2004 — framework rules for all food-contact materials
• Regulation (EU) 10/2011 — plastics: composition and migration testing
• BRCGS Packaging Materials — the GFSI-recognised retail standard
• ISO 22000 / AIB / SQF — food-safety management
• Declaration of Compliance (DoC) — mandatory, per batch

We align migration testing and the DoC with the manufacturer before production, so the compliance file exists when the goods ship — not after a customs query.

Can Food-Grade FIBCs Use Recycled PP?

Not in the food-contact layer. Where a buyer needs both food safety and recycled content for sustainability reporting, the route is a recycled outer construction with a certified food-grade liner handling the contact surface — never recycled PP against the product. We structure that split explicitly so neither the food-safety claim nor the recycled claim is overstated.
